I decided to stay in Nuremberg one more day to actually see the sights of the city.
But since I wasn’t so fond of my hotel (door banging and shouting late in the evening, the broken shower head holder, a general weird feeling,…) I decided to move to another hotel. Breakfast was not included and so I headed over to the next hotel shortly after 8 AM.
There, I could leave my luggage and the bike and made my way on foot to the castle.
I walked in the old castle ditch which could have been really nice since it’s green and in the shade but, unfortunately, there was a lot garbage lying around, I even watched a rat passing me quite relaxed in broad daylight and didn’t feel especially safe and secure….but as I mentioned, it was in the shade and not too hot yet – and I made it to the castle safely 🙂
After a great breakfast at the hotel Miltenburg, I started into a drizzle – despite the forecast of sunny and hot weather. But I was happy to have a little break from the sun and a cool start.
Quickly, kilometer after kilometer melted away while the sun was working it’s way through the clouds.
On day four of my “many-rivers”-tour, I decided to change to river number four: the Main.
After a perfect stay in the hotel Krone in Hirschhorn, I took the train from Hirschhorn to Mosbach (Neckar). I arrived there after a half hour train ride at around 9 AM, pretty late to start a stint in the shape of an upside down U and on a sunny day 😉
Breakfast at the hotel Sonne (=sun) started early, so I was on my bike already shortly after 8 AM. I cycled the way along the Neckar which I had taken the day before by foot to Bad Wimpfen.
The temperatures were comfortable and so I cycled along the river and had a wonderful view on the castles which are located on the heights on the left and on the right of the river bank.
I started early, around 8 AM, because it was suppose to get warm again. I started off through the beautiful forest of the Pfaelzer Wald and the whole first ten kilometers were going downhill on a beautiful smooth cycling road.
After the breakfast at the a little weird guest house (and the tiniest room I stayed in), I started into a beautiful morning: it was already warm and all the tourists were still asleep or at least not on the road ;-).
At first, I cycled along the Blies, a little stream, to Zweibruecken where I got seriously lost….probably because there was a market (I think it was a fish market) on the marketplace which probably hid some signs….after cycling around for about half an hour or so, I found the cycling path along the stream again BUT now it was covered by gravel and crowded by people and just not as nice as before.
Despite the very nice room and a delicious breakfast, my bad mood was back (maybe I was sensing the events of the day already). I also had to do some shopping and it took some contemplating on which side of the Mosel I wanted to continue, so I started relatively late.
I was also a bit bored because the landscape was the same as the day before, still beautiful but not new 😉
Although it was quite warm, I slept well and was awake around 6 AM or even earlier. I got up a little later and was on the road around 8 AM which was a good start, keeping the temperatures of yesterday in mind.
