Today, I started my way back to the North.

For the first time, I felt more scared than thrilled, for no particular reason...or maybe I already sensed that I put a little much on my plate for the first day: I already booked my hotel in Rothenburg, so that was a little extra pressure. It also promised to be another hot day and I suffered from a nice little headache the third day in a row. Also my bike felt a bit wobbly after we dismantled the handlebar and the connected parts, in order to get the navigation device holder fixed to my bike. Just yesterday I also repaired a hole in my tube, so everything was a bit off when I started in the morning.

Consequently, I didn't really enjoy the trip, despite the wonderful (hot) weather and the beautiful landscape which both invited for beautiful pictures. I just noticed the uphills, the many kilometers ahead and the "wobbility" of my handlebar and the warm wind which made me feel like circulating air oven.

And of course I also battled a bit with Edgar, my new navigation device, which luckily doesn't speak but is quite stubborn and needs quite a bit getting used to.

But after a lot ups and downs - and beautiful landscapes and all the hot air around me, I finally made it to the final hill, the hill Rothenburg ob der Tauber sits on. But this hill I didn't cycle up anymore but walked and pushed the bike instead, dripping of sweat from all possible places...it was almost impressive ;-)

I checked into the very nice hotel "Goldenes Fass" (= golden barrel) and after a nice veeeeeeeeeeery long shower, some rest, a trip to the local bike shop where my handlebar got fixed, and a delicious meal at the restaurant Roedertor, where they specialize in potato dishes, I feel substantially better :-)

Besides, there was a huge thunderstorm just after I got back to the hotel and it is still raining outside - and my headache is slowly disappearing. What a glorious end of this demanding day!

In some valley, just before the next uphill

Looks almost like in Africa but this is the Hohenloher Ebene

First view of Rothenburg, first thought: I'm not cycling up there
