Although I love Essen and everything seemed to go so well, again I got lost shortly after I found the first promising sign pointing to my first destination “Werden”. I even circled back to the sign and tried again but not a chance to find the follow-up sign. So I decided to cycle to Werden according to my phone, again missing one of those “wonderful” cycle routes.
Today, I visited the Zeche Zollverein in Essen which was a coal mine from the 19th century until 1986. These days it’s an open air museum and a place for events and exhibitions. And an excellent place to shoot pictures of industrial motives.
Although it was quite warm, I slept well and was awake around 6 AM or even earlier. I got up a little later and was on the road around 8 AM which was a good start, keeping the temperatures of yesterday in mind.
